The Florida Aquarium braces for Hurricane Ian, closed until safe

by The 100 Companies

The Florida Aquarium and its administrative offices will be closed starting Monday afternoon in preparation of Hurricane Ian.

A small group of essential personnel will remain at the aquarium to ensure the safety of the animals.

“Our first priority is safety,” Florida Aquarium COO Andrew Wood said. “We have secured the facility and taken all precautions to ensure the safety of our staff and animals.”

The closure will remain in effect until it is deemed safe to reopen. Updates will be posted on the aquarium’s website and social media. The aquarium sits on the water in a mandatory evacuation zone.
