TV drives US news consumption

A recent Pew Research Center report names broadcast – either television or online – as the most popular platform for news consumption. Nearly half of Americans would rather watch the news than read or listen to it.

The report shows the lasting power of TV news, as 75 percent list broadcast television as their preferred way to watch the news.

Surprisingly, only one in five Americans prefers listening to the news. There was a small increase from 2016, but expect larger gains as podcasting continues to grow. The number of U.S. podcast listeners grew by 23 percent in one year alone.
