Sean Shaw, the 2018 Democratic nominee for Attorney General, threw his support behind Charlie Crist’s gubernatorial campaign.
“Gov. Crist is someone we need to lead Florida forward and restore civility and decency back in the Governor’s mansion,” said Shaw. He recalled how as Governor, Crist picked Black jurist James Perry for the state Supreme Court over objections by conservatives; Shaw’s father Leander Shaw served as Florida’s first Black Chief Justice.
Crist promised more diverse nominations to the bench if he’s elected. He slammed Gov. Ron DeSantis for using the Judicial Nominating Commission as a “rubber stamp” for Federalist Society-endorsed candidates.
