As lawmakers in Tallahassee iron out final details in the upcoming state budget, it starts becoming apparent who’s getting a slice of the state funding pie, and who isn’t.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office landed a win this week with $1 million in the House supplemental funding list, to help fund a new K9 training and boarding facility, which would also benefit neighboring law enforcement.
But Hillsborough voters may have to wait to see refunds from the now-defunct transportation tax voters approved in 2018. Lawmakers appear at an impasse on how to reallocate the funds after the tax was ruled unconstitutional.
