Tampa City Council member Charlie Miranda has served at various times since 1974, eight terms. This year, he faces term limits in his current District 2, and the big question for the 2023 cycle is whether he’ll attempt another seat swap and run for District 6.
If he does, it’s potentially bad news for candidates already in that race, including lawyer Hoyt Prindle, realtor Rick Fifer and progressive Tyler Barrett, all who would face fundraising challenges as Miranda sucks the air from the room.
But, with recent trends, it is possible there’s room for fresh blood as voters seek new representation.
