A recent Comedy Central-style roast of Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard raised $10,000 for local non-profits.

Held at Ruth Eckerd Hall on May 20, the roast featured Aaron Fodiman, publisher and editor of Tampa Bay Magazine, Pinellas County Commissioner Kathleen Peters, state Sen. Ed Hooper, restaurateur Hoyt Hamilton, attorney Nathan Hightower and businessman Sam Hutkin.

Ruth Eckerd Hall and the Homeless Empowerment Program were each presented with a $5,000 check following the unique event.

“The turnout exceeded expectations and it was a much-needed injection of levity for our community,” Hibbard said. “Best of all, the event raised money for local charities.”
