The Florida Aquarium recently released Kalan – a female, sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle – back into the ocean after her successful recovery at the Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center in Apollo Beach.
A satellite tag attached to her shows she has traveled 125 miles and was swimming off the west coast of Florida near Venice as of Tuesday morning.
Those interested can follow Kalan’s journey in the Gulf of Mexico and review other interesting data here.
The satellite tag provides critical conservation data to scientists at the Florida Aquarium. Kalan was originally found stranded, with weakness and lethargy, in the Sarasota area.
