Make a resolution to baby-proof your home

This New Year, make a resolution that could save a child’s life: Baby-proof your home. Since drowning is the leading cause of preventable death for children ages 1 to 4 in Tampa Bay, it’s important to take steps to prevent accidental drownings.

Install a pool fence with a lock and self-closing gate so children can’t get in the pool if they’re unsupervised. Ensure there are no gaps or holes in the netting where a child could access the pool.

Install door alarms, and if you live near a body of water, make sure to fence in your backyard.
