During “Operation Safe and Sober” over Memorial Day weekend, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies conducted 939 stops to combat impaired driving. A total of 61 impaired drivers and four impaired boat operators were arrested.
Tragically, two drownings occurred, highlighting the need for water safety. Moreover, a drunk driver struck a deputy’s vehicle during a traffic stop, emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving.
Sheriff Chad Chronister thanked those on patrol who kept the community safe.
The operation resulted in 1,130 traffic stops, 137 citations, 1,001 warnings, 61 DUI arrests and 35 other arrests, demonstrating commitment to community safety.
