Bolts blasted by Rangers in first game of conference final

Bleah.

The two-time Stanley Cup champion Lightning were outplayed from start to finish Wednesday, falling 6-2 to the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference final.

The Rangers scored in just over the first minute of play, setting the tone for an ugly night.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that the Bolts have been in this position before and survived. Last year, they lost the opening game of the conference final to the Islanders but won the series in seven games.

They also lost the opening games against Boston and Dallas in 2020.
