The Florida Aquarium, along with partner SSA Group, is teaming up with Feeding Tampa Bay to fight food insecurity by developing a food recovery program for catered events held at the aquarium.
Chef-prepared items will go to Trinity Cafe, including entrees, appetizers, sides and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Feeding Tampa Bay picks up the food on Mondays, following weekend events. Only food that could be sold or safe to consume for anyone is donated.
Trinity Cafe is a free, full-service restaurant for those in need.
Feeding Tampa Bay hopes the Aquarium’s program will inspire other businesses to implement similar initiatives.
