Kanika Tomalin, the former Deputy Mayor of St. Petersburg in former Mayor Rick Kriseman’s administration, has been named President and CEO of the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg.
Tomalin’s work as Vice President of strategic planning and public affairs for Bayfront Health System was instrumental in the foundation’s creation.
Tomalin’s appointment comes after a nationwide search. She was chosen after feedback from community leaders, including business and health experts, clergy and local activists.
Tomalin, who served eight years as Deputy Mayor, begins next month after she steps down from her current role as Chief Operating Officer for Eckerd College.
