Shumaker joins effort to ensure access to free bankruptcy protections for veterans

Tampa-based law firm Shumaker is aiding a pilot program through the American Bankruptcy Institute Task Force on Veterans and Service members Affairs and the Florida Bar to link veterans in need of legal representation to lawyers who can address their issues. Shumaker is seeking volunteers to staff the effort.

“It’s easy for active-duty soldiers to get support through the Legal Assistance for Military Personnel (LAMP) program … but Veterans are not eligible for legal referral,” said Shumaker Partner Steve Berman. “This new program will give Veterans the help they need to address their debt and credit issues in these difficult times.”
