Cookie Kennedy, a Democratic candidate for Pinellas County Commission in District 1, raised more than $33,000 for her campaign from 148 individuals in May.
Her Republican opponent, Chris Scherer, raised about $24,000 during the same period, including just under $9,000 to his campaign and nearly $15,000 to his political committee, Friends of Chris Scherer.
“It is incredible to have so many friends and neighbors supporting our people-powered campaign,” Kennedy said on Monday. “We are laser focused on the issues that everyday residents of our great county care about.”
Kennedy is running to replace Janet Long, who is not seeking re-election.
