Judge strikes down All for Transportation referendum

A Hillsborough County judge has struck down the All for Transportation referendum, which was supposed to be on the county’s November General Election ballot.

Hillsborough Circuit Court Judge Anne-Leigh Gaylord Moe ruled earlier this week to invalidate the referendum after hearing a lawsuit challenging the proposal. The case was brought by conservative activist Karen Jaroch against Hillsborough County and its Supervisor of Elections, Craig Latimer.

Judge Moe argued that the County Commission-approved ballot language would confuse voters by citing specific projects to be covered by the tax.

The referendum proposed a 30-year, 1% sales tax to fund sweeping transportation improvements.
