While you’re planning summer mini-vacations, consider visiting Sarasota. The sleepy downtown is now booming with things to do, but the arts scene remains a draw.
My favorite spots include:
– Stopping at Sarasota Sorbet after browsing the expanded downtown farmers market.
– Soaking up some sun at Lido Beach. Pro tip: The south end has fewer crowds and a new sandbar.
– Ending with a visit to new downtown hot spot Sage. Dine on the first level, then head to the rooftop for incredible views and amazing cocktails.
And yes, it counts as a staycation even though it’s only an hour south.
