Former Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren faced a federal appeals court Tuesday, arguing Gov. Ron DeSantis wrongly suspended him last year for pledging not to prosecute abortion cases.
A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in Warren’s appeal of a previous ruling as he seeks to be reinstated to his job after DeSantis suspended him for neglect of duty.
An attorney for Warren argued DeSantis violated Warren’s free speech rights and nullified the election that brought Warren to office.
The attorney said the only remedy is to reinstate Warren to office.
