The group Faith and Action for Strength Together (FAST), at its annual Nehemiah assembly this week, targeted water quality, license suspension reforms and affordable housing.
The group, consisting of members of more than 50 local congregations, is known for using tough tactics to get results from elected officials on priorities.
The group asked for a pre-arrest diversion program on non-dangerous driving offenses to keep people from losing their licenses, rain gardens to manage stormwater runoff and mitigate red tide, and 5,000 units of affordable housing for families at or below 80% area median income, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
