In the wake of state arts funding cuts, two local foundations have teamed up to work on making up the difference.
The Gobioff Foundation recently established the Tampa Bay Arts Bridge Fund at the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay to help sustain arts organizations that relied on state funding for operating expenses.
The foundation’s initial $100,000 donation was matched by The Vinik Family Foundation, and additional donations are needed. The ultimate goal is to mobilize the Tampa Bay community to raise the missing $2.49 million in annual state funding that 32 Hillsborough and Pinellas organizations had previously received.
