Rays’ centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier, a three-time Gold Glove winner, was a late scratch from Friday’s exhibition game against the Baltimore Orioles because of a sore left groin. He said he felt “a little bit of tightness throughout the week,” and it got worse before that game.
Kiermaier is not concerned about missing time in the regular season, however.
He said he is “not worried about it whatsoever” and could return following Monday’s scheduled day off.
Opening Day for the Rays is April 8 at Tropicana Field against Baltimore.
Kiermaier is one of the best defensive centerfielders in Major League Baseball.
