Bulls plan a more aggressive defensive approach

A leaky defense was a big problem for the USF football team last season, leading to the firing of defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer.

His replacement, Bob Shoop, brought a new approach during spring practice. The scheme is much more aggressive than Spencer’s, and Shoop said, “I think our players have embraced that one the most, that attacking in-your-face style mentality.”

USF’s defense ranked 123rd out of 130 Division I teams last season.

“We just have to let it loose,” USF linebacker Antonio Grier said. “You can’t be passive, no way, and expect to get tackles for a loss and sacks.”
