Rowdies fall short in USL championship game

by The 100 Companies

A spectacular season of accomplishment ended on a down note for the Rowdies, as they fell 3-1 to Orange County SC Sunday night at Al Lang Stadium.

They trailed 3-0 at the half with backup goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena substituting for injured Evan Louro, who hurt his right knee in celebration after the Rowdies’ conference final victory. They had not allowed three goals in a match since August 2019.

“Who prepares you for being 3-nil down at halftime in a Cup final? Highly unusual,” Rowdies coach Neill Collins said.

Tampa Bay, which had the USL’s best regular-season record, finished the season 26-8-2.
