USF has weekend off after SMU loss

by The 100 Companies

The USF football team gets a needed breather this week following a grinding 41-17 loss at undefeated SMU to open American Athletic Conference play.

The SMU game was marked by the first meeting between the Bulls and founding head coach Jim Leavitt, who is the defensive coordinator for the Mustangs.

The loss dropped the Bulls to 1-4. Following this week’s open date, USF returns home on Oct. 16 with a conference game against Tulsa.

USF’s four losses have been against teams with a combined 17-3 record. And, the Bulls still have remaining conference games against 5-0 Cincinnati and 4-1 Houston.
