The Rays accomplished two major things over the weekend.
On Saturday they clinched their second consecutive American League East champion in front of the home fans at Tropicana Field. A day later, they closed out the home portion of the regular season by beating Miami 3-2. It was the 97th win this season, equaling the team record set in 2008.
They return to action Tuesday for the final six games before the playoffs begin. The Rays have three games at Houston followed by three in New York against the Yankees.
Tampa Bay needs three wins to reach 100 for the season.
