The Tampa Bay Lightning announced they will extend the Lightning Community Heroes program for another five years.

Team owner and chairman Jeff Vinik, along with his wife, Penny, committed another $10 million to the program to continue the gift of a $50,000 donation to a charity selected by a local honoree at every Amalie Arena game. So far, the program has donated $23 million to 585 nonprofits.

“We’re very excited to be furthering our commitment with an additional $10 million to the selfless heroes of the Tampa Bay community and the organizations they serve,” the Viniks said in a statement.
