Here’s the tally so far for the top-ranked United States Olympic softball team: two games, two wins and no runs allowed.

The U.S. defeated Canada, ranked third in the world, 1-0 Wednesday after a dominating performance by pitcher Monica Abbott. She struck out nine and allowed just one hit.

Haylie McCleney scored the lone run and also threw out pinch-runner Joey Lye from right-center to keep the Canadians scoreless.

The U.S. team opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over Italy Tuesday.

They resume play Saturday with games against Mexico and Australia, and against host Japan on Sunday.
