Congressman Charlie Crist has announced a $36,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to Clearwater nonprofit Suncoast Housing Connections.
With the funding, Suncoast Housing Connections will be able to provide counseling and advice to tenants/homeowners on topics like property maintenance and financial management and literacy with the goal of helping residents find and retain safe and affordable housing.
“With the cost of housing skyrocketing in Florida, Pinellas families are caught between soaring rents and years-long waitlists for housing assistance,” Crist said.
In 2021, the nonprofit’s certified housing counselors provided services to 798 prospective homeowners.
