Hotelier and developer Ian Schrager told Axios Tampa Bay that Tampa is on the edge of greatness — pointing to Water Street as the city’s next great project.
“I believe it’s Tampa’s time now. It’s been coming for a while now,” he said.
Schrager, who is credited with co-creating the “boutique hotel” back in the 1980s, is helping develop the part of Water Street Tampa, working on the Tampa EDITION hotel.
The Tampa EDITION plans to hold 172 guest rooms, along with 37 private residences starting at $2 million apiece on the upper floors. It’s expected to open in 2022.
