Meaningful Public Input Takes Work

by

When municipalities start planning new projects, they often talk about how the public will help guide the process.

What exactly is public engagement? At B2, we’re often hired to help direct that process, and we believe it needs to involve more than hosting a couple of public meetings. Our wide-ranging approach was reflected in our work in the planning for a revitalized downtown Clearwater waterfront.

Well-publicized public meetings that attracted hundreds of people were simply a starting point. The City also took time to meet with neighborhood, business and community leaders. Everyone needs an opportunity to be heard.
