Rep. Michele Rayner-Goolsby is the only lesbian in the Florida Legislature. Now she aims to be the first LGBTQ+ official elected to represent Florida in Congress.

“We have to put public servants at the center of policymaking,” The current House District 70 Representative said. ”We have to do the will and the work of the people. So many people have lost faith in our institutions.”

Rayner-Goolsby’s entrance sets up a tough three-way Democratic Primary for the seat. Rayner-Goolsby’s House colleague, Ben Diamond, already announced. So too has Eric Lynn, a former national security adviser in former President Barack Obama’s administration.
