Thirty-two U.S. House Democrats, led by Sheila Cherfilus‑McCormick of Miramar and Gregory Meeks of New York City, are calling for an urgent crackdown on the illegal flow of American-made guns to Haiti.
In a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, the lawmakers urged expanded U.S. Customs inspections of outbound shipments from Florida ports, stricter rules on anonymous shipping, heightened tracing efforts, coordination with the Dominican Republic and support for Meeks’ Haiti Criminal Collusion Transparency Act.
U.S. national security is at risk, they warned, as gun‑fueled Haitian gang violence drives migration.
