Florida and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are going to complete the Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir early by giving the state more control over the project, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis said the change won’t affect funding.
“It will allow us to accelerate the commitment and the investment in the project to ensure we’re not waiting until 2034,” he said. “We’re going to get it done five years earlier.”
DeSantis credited President Donald Trump for brokering the agreement.
“When he was down here for the Alligator Alcatraz, this came up, and he said, ‘It’s going to happen.’”
