José Javier Rodríguez launches bid for Attorney General, vows to be the ‘People’s Lawyer’

by katem

José Javier Rodríguez, a Democratic labor lawyer who lost his Senate seat in a so-called “ghost candidate” scheme that has since led to the criminal conviction of its main conspirator, is running for Attorney General.

He said his goal is to take on the “corrupt deal makers taking over Florida” who want to maintain the status quo while costs continue to increase for residents.

His candidacy sets up a potential high-profile showdown with the current holder of the state’s top legal post, appointed Attorney General James Uthmeier, a Republican who is facing scrutiny over alleged mishandling of Medicaid settlement funds.
