The Sugar Hill development team is arguing the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce was unfair in its endorsement for a competing developer to undertake redevelopment at the Historic Gas Plant District, writing in a letter they were not allowed to present their proposal to the Chamber.
Instead, the Chamber is backing a proposal from the Rays and developer Hine.
The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports Sugar Hill team said, “it’s hard not to … say there was some kind of pre-determined outcome.”
St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch will announce his pick for a developer at the end of January.
