Tampa Bay GOP incumbents pick up challengers

Two Tampa Bay House incumbents have picked up challengers within the last week, as the qualifying period wraps up. Before the challengers entered the race, both incumbents were unopposed.

Attorney Janet Varnell Warwick entered the race against incumbent Rep. Linda Chaney, who was first elected to the state House in 2020. Warwick, a Democrat, is hoping to unseat the Republican incumbent for House District 61, which covers coastal Pinellas County.

Entrepreneur Michael Tillery also filed to run within the last week, entering the race against freshman Rep. Traci Koster. The pair are running to represent the North Tampa area in HD 66.
