State Reps. Ben Diamond and Michele Rayner have each dropped their respective campaigns for Florida’s 13th Congressional District, leaving former Obama administration official Eric Lynn as the only candidate left in the Democratic Primary.
The two announced their exit from the race within a week of each other, with Diamond announcing his leaving May 12 and Rayner following on May 16.
The Democratic candidates ultimately decided to leave the race due to redistricting.
Gov. Ron DeSantis‘ congressional map draws St. Petersburg – Pinellas County’s Democratic stronghold – out of CD 13. Now the district extends further north into traditionally red parts of Pinellas County.
