Dogs With Heartworm Get New Leash on Life

by

SPCA Tampa Bay works to find the right forever homes for thousands of animals each year. Sometimes dogs brought to the shelter require treatment for heartworm, a parasite spread by mosquitoes that does serious damage to pets’ organs over time.

More than 34 dogs entering the shelter have already been diagnosed with heartworm this year, and the treatment for heartworm is expensive. But it’s needed to rid the dogs of the damaging parasite so they can be adopted.

Donations on Give Day will help support SPCA Tampa Bay’s treatment of heartworm-positive dogs so that they can find new homes.
