The Carter G. Woodson African American Museum in St. Petersburg annually honors local “first ladies” in African American history who broke barriers. These women will be honored on April 28.

– Patricia Wright, first African American female Director of School Operations for the Pinellas County Schools.

– Sharon Welch, the city of St. Petersburg’s first African American and female IT Systems Development Manager.

– U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Jeanine Menze, the USCG’s first female African American aviator.

– Nadine Smith, the first female African American leader of Equality Florida.

Bridgette Heller, first African American female President of Johnson & Johnson Global Baby Business.
