Hurricane prep: Safe sleep for infants

With hurricane season starting on June 1, it’s important for parents of young children to get prepared now for a potential evacuation. One thing to think about: Unsafe sleep practices are a leading cause of preventable death among infants, so make plans to ensure a safe sleep environment for your baby.

Following the ABCs of safe sleep is important: Alone on their Backs in a Crib (or pack ‘n play). It’s best to use a fitted sheet with no blankets or stuffed animals, and never put an infant down to sleep on an adult bed, couch or blow-up mattress.
