Now is the time to plant seeds for vegetables and herbs that thrive in our mild winter weather. Kale, lettuce, carrots, beets and celery grow well in cool, dry weather, along with herbs such as cilantro, parsley, sage and thyme.
Grow a plentiful vegetable garden this season:
– Select a site that receives at least six hours of sunlight a day.
– Create your own compost from yard wastes to supplement Florida’s sandy, infertile soil.
– Draw a garden plan and then till the soil. Wait a few weeks, then add compost and plant your seeds in firm soil.
