See photos from famed BNY Mellon collection

Akihiko Miyoshi Abstract

One of America’s founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton, started BNY Mellon in 1784. Since then, its corporate art collection has grown into one of the best of its kind.

Now, Tampa Bay area residents have their first opportunity to view a portion of the Mellon collection, as the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts presents an exhibition called “Modus Operandi: Contemporary Photographs from the collection of BNY Mellon.”

Opening Jan. 25, the exhibit brings together works by innovative photographers representing eight countries, including Mickalene Thomas and Alex Prager. The artists employ non-traditional methods that embody the often-performative nature of photography.
