The world’s largest collection of work by famed French jewelry designer Jean Schlumberger is coming to the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg.
Best known for his work for Tiffany & Co., Schlumberger was a master at using the natural world as inspiration for creating unique works of jeweled art. Such fashion icons as Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Rachel “Bunny” Mellon wore his creations in the 1960s and ‘70s.
“Jewels of the Imagination: Radiant Masterworks by Jean Schlumberger from the Mellon Collection” opens Dec. 15, and a companion exhibition tells Schlumberger’s story, while offering a look inside his creative process.
