If you thought Tampa Electric’s beloved Manatee Viewing Center couldn’t get any better – think again.
The utility company recently submitted plans to the Port Tampa Bay to add a 152-foot, T-shaped pier that would extend out perpendicularly from the current pier into to the heart of the waters where the manatees reside.
During winter, manatees swim to the Big Bend Power Station for its warm, clean water.
This new pier would give visitors an even closer view of the manatees. In order for this plan to come to fruition, it still needs the thumbs up from state and federal agencies.
