Rescued from Nazis, promoter became legend

music promoter

Bill Graham’s life was anything but typical. The music promoter worked with everyone from the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead to Santana and Jefferson Airplane.

What people might not know is that Graham was one of the “One Thousand Children” who escaped Nazi Germany with the help of private rescue organizations. “One Thousand Children” refers to roughly 1,400 Jewish children who were brought to the United States without their parents.

Graham’s noteworthy life is explored in an exhibition about him at the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg.

The exhibit runs through Feb. 10, 2019. Tickets are $16.
