Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has become the first hospital in Florida to be verified by the American College of Surgeons as an Emergency General Surgery Verification Program.
TGH is the 11th hospital in the nation to achieve verification, which is provided after clearing a rigorous, evidence-based assessment on surgical care, including those for acute surgical emergencies.
To achieve verification, hospitals must demonstrate operationalized emergency surgery with the highest industry standards of safety and quality, as well as the ability to adhere to additional ACS standards.
Chief Operating Officer Melissa Golombek said the recognition confirms TGH’s excellence in providing life-saving surgery.
