Architects: Economy will keep cranking

Architects are excellent resources for predicting the area’s longer-term economic future.

As Ward Friszolowski of Harvard Jolly Architecture writes in a recent guest column, projects with design work starting now won’t be built for several years, so companies and developers need to feel bullish to start new buildings.

With this in mind, AIA Tampa Bay’s survey of area architects was telling: 69% expect demand for their services to increase this year.

A vibrant economy also creates challenges, though. Notably, the architects mentioned how it’s tough to find quality employees, and the need to offer flexibility to keep good architects.
