Lightning lose Stanley Cup to Colorado

by The 100 Companies

The young, fast and strong Colorado Avalanche ended the Lightning’s drive for a third consecutive Stanley Cup, beating the Bolts 2-1 Sunday night at Amalie Arena.

Colorado won the series 4-2.

Lightning fans saluted their team with a long standing ovation as the players left the ice for the final time this season. That didn’t reduce the pain the Bolts feel at this moment.

“It’s crushing,” Lightning captain Steven Stamkos said. “I’m sick to my stomach.”

Did the window close on this extraordinary team?

“Who says we’re done?” Stamkos said.

The Lightning won 11 consecutive playoff series before this one.
