Here’s a cheap summer thrill

Thrill Hill is a rite of passage for kids in St. Petersburg, but a lot of folks don’t seem to know about the sudden, sharp incline on Third Street South. A quick drive over it gives that roller-coaster, stomach-flipping feeling.

Either give passengers plenty of notice so they enjoy the anticipation, or offer no warning and hear their surprise.

Then take the next left for the Old Southeast Market at 1700 Third St. S to buy a $3 bumper sticker boasting “I Climbed Thrill Hill.” The market is also known for its great poke bowls and craft beer.
