The Florida Legislature has allocated $22 million to Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland for a new Student Achievement Center and to support student growth.
The Center will support increased student enrollment and to expand in-demand programs at the STEM university.
There were two allotments; $12 million goes toward beginning construction on the $85 million Center, with $10 million earmarked for the Rising to 3,000 initiative, which aims to bring enrollment to that number by 2030 by elevating the school’s academic profile.
Rep. Jennifer Canady sponsored the Rising to 3,000 request, while Rep. Josie Tomkow ran the Student Achievement Center ask.
