Researchers at Florida Polytechnic University have developed an artificial intelligence tool that can detect remote access trojans (RATs) that are otherwise hard to spot. The research could help millions of Android users avoid having their personal information stolen, and protect from cybercriminals controlling their devices.
Nesreen Dalhy has been working with Computer Science professor Karim Elish to identify effective ways to detect malicious software.
Dalhy said RATs have been an evolving problem for years. They continually find new ways to stay hidden in smartphones and steal users’ personal information. Androids account for more than 80% of the world’s mobile devices.
